Lolelunga Private Reserve is a trailblazing private conservation project that seamlessly integrates wildlife preservation with sustainable tourism. Strategically situated north of the Kafue National Park, it offers a rich biodiversity and a pristine wilderness experience.
It is a conservation success story that has restored a remote area decimated by poachers, deforestation, dynamite fishing, and indiscriminate logging into an extraordinarily fully fenced private reserve. Our efforts have led to the successful reintroduction of indigenous wildlife, including the Big 5, making Lolelunga the first fully fenced private reserve in Zambia.
The name “Lolelunga” is a blend of two words: “Lole,” the nickname of the owner’s last-born child, and “Lunga,” the name of the beautiful river that forms the northern boundary of the reserve. Lodge and the Facilities
Lolelunga is a wilderness sanctuary spanning 30,000 hectares and will welcome guests from the 1st of August 2025. It delivers an intimate and private contemporary safari experience tailored to families, couples, individuals or groups. The spacious riverside suites offer a secluded haven to relax in, while the guest area has a serene rim-flow pool on the riverbank, a dining area overlooking the mesmerising Lunga River, a fully equipped gym, and a well-appointed spa. Lolelunga provides endless opportunities to be immersed in nature on game drives or walking safaris through the forests, swamplands and plains or via water safaris on the Lunga River. Kenneth Kaunda International Airport – Zambia has regular direct flights from Dubai, Doha, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Harare, Livingstone and Lilongwe.
Private charter flights to Lolelunga Private Reserve operate from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone, Jeki and Royal Airstrips in the Lower Zambezi, and Mfuwe Airport.
Flight times range from 45 minutes to two hours. The Lolelunga airstrip has a small welcome lounge, where guests are collected in open 4 x 4 vehicles for the five-minute drive to the lodge.
By road:
Lusaka to Mumbwa 140km
Mumbwa to Hook Bridge 130km
Turn right at Hook Bridge (Lufupa gate)
Drive for 120km to arrive at Kabanga Gate. Exit Kabanga Gate, continue for 17 km at the T junction.
Take the left and drive for 5km, where you will see the sign that says “Lolelunga, Main Gate”, please turn right. You will arrive at Lolelunga Entrance in 9km
